Celebrate the Dog Days of Summer at ‘Yappy Hour’ Fundraiser

 

New Haven: Claire’s Corner Copia and Basta Trattoria will host a fundraiser to benefit adoptable animals at The Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter on Friday, August 20, 2010, from 6 to 8:30 p.m..

 

Yappy Hour is a chance for dogs and their owners to mingle at Claire’s outdoor patio area at 1000 Chapel Street.  All dogs must be leashed, licensed, vaccinated and ready for tail-wagging.

Live music performed by Wry Bred! 

Tickets are $25 per person/dog, which includes one martini or smoothie, a plateful of Claire’s tasty appetizers, and a bone-shaped cake.  Canine participants will receive a water bowl, a bag of organic doggie treats, and a bandana, courtesy of TD Bank. Several raffle items—for dogs and humans alike—will be available.  Tickets can be purchased at the event, online via Pay Pal at

The Friends of The New Haven Animal Shelter is a 20-year-old non-profit volunteer  organization that works directly with The Robin I. Kroogman New Haven Animal Shelter, providing adoption services, socialization for dogs and cats at the shelter, medical support, and foster care, among other services.

New Haven Restaurant Week
from April 19 - 24th, 2009

Isalata Misto - Organic mesculin greens with marinated grilled asparagus and wood-fire roasted organic grape tomatoes tossed with extra virgin olive oil, organic lemon juice, Sicilian sea salt, and cracked black pepper. Garnished with shaved parmesan cheese. 

Panna Cotte - Escarole and organic withe beans cooked with        extra virgin olive oil, garlic, and homemade bread, finished in our wood-burning oven with Parmesan Reggiano cheese.

Rissoto del Giorno - The classic Arborio rice dish, created daily by our chefs.

Mozzarella in Corozza - Locally produced, fresh mozzarella  sandwiched between our homemade bread, lightly battered, and fried in organic soybean oil.  Served with our basil scented marinara.

Farfalle Funghi -  Organic tri-color bow tie pasta, in a light sauce of button, crimini, portabello, and porcini mushrooms, prosciutto, cream, and Marsala wine.

Pollo Campania - Free-range, all natural chicken breast sauteed in extra virgin olive oil with roasted organic grape tomato, shallot, and Greco Di Tufo wine.  Finished with just a touch of cream.

Fillet of Bronzino, Piccata style - Grilled Bronzino in a lemon, caper, and white wine butter sauce

July 22: Boys Club Dinner

  • Small Plate selections: Escarole and Organic White Beans Saute' Grilled Local Peaches with toasted almonds, peach nectar reduction and balsamic glaze
    Pan roasted organic mushrooms with fresh rosemary, white truffle oil and grana padano cheese crisp

  • Insalata: Panzanella -- Organic tomato, basil chiffonade, red onion, extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, housemade croutons

  • Risotto: Organic Lemon and Seafood Risotto

  • Entree selections: Herb Crusted Pork Loin Roulade stuffed with sundried tomato, asparagus, and goat cheese served over organic Northern white beans with braised local Swiss chard
    Wild Alaskan Halibut over grilled Yukon Gold potatoes with a lemon-roasted organic grape tomato confit, chive-infused olive oil, and capers
    Pollo in Stemperata - Free-range chicken breast with sauteed Italian country olives, pepperoncini peppers, and garlic in Marsala wine
    Grilled N.Y. Strip Steak - Reserve Certified Angus N.Y. Strip grilled and topped with a fresh local oregano and garlic butter with organic lemon zest and parsley.

  • Dessert, coffee, cappuccino, and espresso to follow.

Monday, April 7: Pizza and Peroni Mondays, Wood-oven pizza, an organic salad, and a bottle of Peroni Italian beer.

  • Margherita Pizza, A hand thrown pizza, just the right size for one with San Marzano tomato sauce, basil, and fresh local "Mozz".

  • Bambino Misto Salad, A small salad of organic greens, caramelized onion, roasted organic tomato, and grilled asparagus, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil from Apuglia, fresh organic lemon juice, and sea salt from Sicily. A bottle of Peroni beer (or an Italian soda). cost $17.

  • Pizza Funghetti, add $5 for organic mushrooms and truffle oil added to the Margherita Pizza.

  • Pizza Basta...add $5 our pizza dough, wood-oven baked with sliced organic pears or apples, caramelized onions, toasted almonds, and Gorgonzola. Drizzled with local honey

  • Pizza Fiorentina...add $5 Italian sausage, organic baby spincach, caramelized onions, and fresh local Scarmoza cheese.

  • Pizza Gamberi...add $7  Shrimp, garlic, Grana Padano, extra virgin olive oil from Apuglia.

  • Pizza Escarole e' Fagioli...add $5 a white pizza with sauteed escarole, organic white beans, Grana Padano, roasted garlic oil.

  • Just a pizza?  Margherita $10.

  • Pizza and Peroni menu available along with our regular menu.

Tuesday, April 22: Celebrate Earth Day at Basta Trattoria with our Earth Dinner. Once again, we've partnered with our favorite family dairy farmers from the New England cooperative at Organic Valley Dairy Farmers, and the Chef's Collaborative to bring you a very special dinner of delicious organic foods.
